Coaches for your Berlin concert

BER Airport to hotel, hotel to the Philharmonie or the Konzerthaus, back after the encore and on to Leipzig, Dresden, Hamburg or Hanover. One contact for every coach on your tour.

For a Berlin date we plan coaches with drivers, from minivans to double-deckers. The halls are the Philharmonie, with around 2,400 seats, and the Konzerthaus, with around 1,500. The peak for visiting orchestras is Musikfest Berlin in September. In winter fewer large orchestras tour through: between November and March we count around 15 visiting ensembles at the Philharmonie and around 10 at the Konzerthaus, mostly chamber orchestras, choirs and touring productions. Onward routing goes to Leipzig, Dresden, Hamburg or Hanover. Indicative quote within 2 to 3 business days, checked against EU driving hours rules.

Berlin in the 2026/27 season

To be straight with you: in winter Berlin sees fewer large touring orchestras than Vienna or Cologne. The international peak is late August and September, during Musikfest Berlin. Between November and March we count around 15 visiting ensembles at the Philharmonie and around 10 at the Konzerthaus in the published programmes, a sample rather than a full count. Most are chamber orchestras, choirs, youth orchestras and touring productions from Saxony, Brandenburg and the Czech Republic. The routing patterns we see:

  • Musikfest in September: the densest block of international orchestras, arriving by air or by coach
  • Leipzig or Dresden as a base: there and back on the concert day, around 190 km each way
  • Berlin and Hamburg: around 290 km, with a day off in between
  • Berlin and Hanover: around 285 km, heading west
  • Choirs with several nights: three concerts in a row from one hotel
  • Berlin between two flights: the coach covers the transfers only

A concert day in Berlin, example

A typical concert day with a morning rehearsal at the Philharmonie. We agree the drop-off point and access with the venue in advance and put them in the day sheet.

  • 09:15 Depart hotel, 49-seat coach
  • 09:45 Arrive Philharmonie at the agreed drop-off point
  • 10:00 Rehearsal; the coach waits or returns, depending on rehearsal length
  • 13:30 Back to the hotel
  • 18:15 Depart for the hall, plus a minivan for the soloists
  • 22:00 After the encore the coach is at the exit; the driver's rest period starts at the hotel

Onward from Berlin: typical legs

Whether one driver is enough depends less on the distance than on what happens before and after. We plan to EU Regulation 561/2006: up to 9 hours driving per day (10 hours twice a week), a 45-minute break after 4.5 hours, 11 hours daily rest (9 hours up to three times a week). Times below are guide values without breaks.

Worked example: from Dresden to a Berlin concert and back

Ensembles based in Saxony often travel to a Berlin concert and back on the same day. Around 190 km each way. One driver can do it, with margin.

  • 13:00 Depart Dresden, around 2.25 hours of driving, arrival at the hall around 15:30. Time for a sound check and warm-up.
  • During the concert the driver is off duty. At least 45 minutes of that count as a break, provided he neither drives nor does other work in that time.
  • 22:15 Depart after the encore, back in Dresden around 00:45. Around 4.5 hours of driving plus city legs, a duty day of around 12 hours. Both within the rules.
  • It only gets tight if there is another early run the next morning: the driver is available from around 09:45 at the earliest, and only on reduced rest. If the next day starts early, we quote a second driver or an overnight stay in Berlin.

Matching the coach to your ensemble

  • 4 to 8 people, quartet, trio, soloist with team: minivan with driver
  • 9 to 25 people, chamber or baroque ensemble: 19- or 29-seat midi coach
  • 26 to 55 people, chamber orchestra, choir or youth orchestra: 49- or 57-seat coach
  • Full symphony orchestra: two to three coaches or a double-decker, plus a minivan for the soloists
  • Luggage and instruments travel in the luggage hold. If there is more, we add a trailer

BER Airport, Musikfest and rail plus coach

BER Airport is around 25 km south-east of the city centre. As a guide value we allow 40 to 60 minutes by coach to a hotel in Mitte or at Potsdamer Platz, more at rush hour. On arrival days we plan for luggage and a buffer.

If your orchestra flies in for Musikfest and stays only one or two days, frequency is what matters: airport, hotel, rehearsal, concert and back to the airport next morning. We write the running order for each day.

For legs to Hamburg, Hanover or the Rhineland we can quote rail plus coach: train for the long distance, coach for the first and last mile. We do not schedule a rail leg on a concert day.

Anywhere in Europe

This page shows our planning around this city. We plan coaches for orchestra tours anywhere in Europe, from a single transfer to a multi-week tour across several countries, with the same driving-hours check for every day. Our focus routes, where we plan most densely, are the North-West with Benelux, the South-East to Vienna and Berlin.

FAQ

How long is the coach transfer from BER Airport to the Philharmonie?
As a guide value 40 to 60 minutes, longer at rush hour. On arrival days we allow for luggage and a buffer.
When do most visiting orchestras come to Berlin?
Late August and September, for Musikfest Berlin. In winter there are fewer large orchestras, but many chamber orchestras, choirs and touring productions.
Can we travel from Leipzig or Dresden to a Berlin concert and back on the same day?
Yes, with one driver: around 190 km each way, and the concert serves as the break. If there is an early run the next morning, we quote a second driver or an overnight stay.
Where does the coach stop at the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus?
We agree the drop-off point and access with each venue before the tour and put them in the day sheet, so nobody has to search on the day.
Do you also run tours outside these routes?
Yes. We plan coaches for orchestra tours anywhere in Europe. The routes on this page are focus routes where we plan most densely, not limits.
